What is hypnotherapy used for?

Hypnotherapy is used to discover mental root causes of manifesting mental and behavioral issues as well as the soothing and possible curing of said issues. It works especially well on issues that are clearly caused and or perpetuated psychologically.

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapeutic approach that can be used in conjunction with traditional talk therapy. It is often sought out by people who have been in talk therapy for a long period of time and haven’t experienced the healing they seek. In my opinion, hypnotherapy should be a regular part of mental health treatment.

Some typical issues that clients come in to resolve include anxiety, phobias, substance abuse including tobacco, sexual dysfunction, undesirable spontaneous behaviors, and bad habits. It can be used to help improve sleep, learning disorders, communication, and relationship issues (psychologytoday.com).

Most of the clients that find me come with traumas to deal with. Hypnotherapy is a great way to broach a lifetime of trauma in a very short amount of time. It is a way to acknowledge it, experience some healing, and begin the journey of integrating what you have learned into your daily life with the assistance of life coaching.

The reason why hypnotherapy is so useful in treating these issues is because it bypasses the conscious mind to work with the subconscious mind which is where all of our underlying “programming” lies. Unconscious programming is just a way to refer to all of the hidden reasons why we do what we do. Most all of these reasons are established in early childhood and they are filed away utilizing emotional labels. This content can only be reached through the distraction, confusion or relaxation of the logical conscious mind so that the emotional content can float up to the surface.

Those who participate in hypnotherapy must do so willingly in order to reap the benefits of this complementary therapeutic approach. It is impossible to create transformation and healing in a person who does not willingly participate in the session.
